INDEPENDENT MEDICAL EVALUATIONS

An independent medical evaluation (IME) is an objective, unbiased assessment of an individual by a regulated healthcare professional. An IME is generally conducted when:

• An individual has been off work for a period or time, or
• There is a dispute in the claims process or
• There are questions around the recommended direction of an individual’s rehabilitation program.

The purpose of an IME is to help resolve any disputes and confirm benefits, coverage, or settlements for an individual. At this time, our provider is available to conduct an examination, often combined with a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) and offer the independent opinion that is needed to move the process forward. It is most often requested by Insurers/Claim Adjudicators, Employers, Case Managers, or Lawyers.
